About
The RSA was founded in 2016 by a small group of motivated members of the community to partner with Berks County municipalities and the City of Reading to facilitate the growth of free public concrete outdoor skateparks. They have also donated monies to the city of Reading to raise awareness of skaters responsibility to positively shape their neighborhoods and communities. The group, through their own grassroots fundraising, has raised the costs to
bring Grindline Skatepark Design of Seattle, Washington to help with a conceptual design of the proposed skatepark using input from the community.
After holding two public design meetings with a Micah Shapiro, the lead designer of Grindline Skateparks, a design has been finalized for the plot of land at 601 Canal St. Reading, PA. This land was granted to the RSA through a memo of understanding with the Reading Redevelopment Authority in early April of 2018.
